After our move outside of Tokyo, I had to give up my studio. As a way to honor it and my time there, I wanted to have a good record of the space.
Ode to my Tokyo Studio

It was around October 2021 and I was finally trying to stop working from my bedroom and improve my poor, saddening Japanese by mingling with other humans. I rented a table at co-working space Midoriso but after Covid levels raised again, I became scared and decided it wasn't worth the stress, I'd be better off renting my own studio.
Never in my 20 years as a freelance had I had a working space all for myself. Finally, in January 2022, I was ready.

A tiny space –essentially a one-room apartment with bathroom– for about €400. Only five minutes walk from my house, it had natural light and a washing machine I'd never use. It made me happy going there every day. Now that we have left Tokyo, I had to give up the space and only by leaving it I realized how much I came to love it. As the wise once said, you only appreciate what you have when you loose it.
